Obituary for Lawrence E. Pritts

Lawrence E. “Larry” Pritts, 90, of Bloomington, passed away at 8:25 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal.

His funeral will be at Noon, Saturday, July 13 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with Rev. Brian Goke officiating. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Magnolia, IL. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:30 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home.

Instead of flowers, memorials to Faith Lutheran Church of McLean County or Project Concern International would be appreciated.

Larry was born October 24, 1928 in Bement, Illinois, the son of William and Edith Jarbo Pritts. He grew up in the Decatur area along with his three brothers and one sister. His parents, brothers, and sister preceded him in death.

Larry married Janet “Jan” Strode on September 29, 1957 in Magnolia, Illinois. They lived in Bloomington-Normal throughout their entire 61 years of marriage. Their precious family includes son, Gary (Kathi) Pritts and a daughter, Deanne (Chris) Eytalis, all of Bloomington and five greatly loved grandchildren, Cameo and Caleb Pritts, Lauren (Korey) Schneider, Emily and Hannah Eytalis.

Larry owned and operated numerous businesses in central Illinois over the years. He started his entrepreneurial career with ownership of Dell’s Shell Service, continued with building numerous Holiday Coin Laundries throughout the area which he owned and operated for many years. Larry enjoyed buying and selling real estate all his life. He also owned Business Growth Corporation which included 6 The Ultimate Tan Salons.

Larry loved golf and travel; he and his wife Jan traveled the world extensively. He was a strong, loving, extremely generous and caring man. Larry was a man of integrity and a mentor to many. He was strong in mind and body and soft in heart. He guided their children as they grew and provided much direction in life and business. He will be loved always and forever by Jan and his family.

Jan and family extend thanks and appreciation to all those who so lovingly cared for him (and us) throughout those extended days and nights at BroMenn fifth floor and to our dear friend, Pr. Brian Goke who ministered to us. Larry will be missed more than we can say…..
