Mike was born July 20, 1961 in Decatur, the son of Donald P. and Judith J. (Bales) Denee Long. They preceded him in death. He married Jackie “Renee” Mariner on August 20, 1988 in Decatur. She survives.

He is also survived by a son, Michael Long of Nashville, TN; four sisters, Penny (Ron) Morris and Robin (Tom) Boils, both of Decatur, Winnie Christerson of Warrensburg and Amy (Donnie) Grindley of Urbana; and many nieces and nephews.

Mike managed Speed Lube #5 on East Washington in Bloomington. He was a hard-working people person and was dedicated to his job.

An avid outdoorsman, Mike enjoyed hunting and fishing, sponsored Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited and was a member of the NRA. He loved NASCAR, the Chicago Cubs, his two dogs, Joey and Kevin and was a long time Illinois State men’s basketball supporter. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, around a grill or campfire. And he loved to tell stories; some were even true.

Mike was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
