Dr. William H. Raino, 70 of Bloomington, Illinois and Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago.

Bill was born November 27, 1948 in Joliet, the son of Dominic J. and Cleo A. Rybolt Raino. He married Nancy J. Knight on May 20, 1994 in Evansville, Indiana. She survives.

He is also survived by seven children, Anne (Chris) Cliff of Minneapolis, MN, Tara Seitz and Leigh (Brad) Beyer, both of Evansville, IN, Matthew (Sarah) Raino of Chicago, Joshua (Holly) Seitz of Evansville, IN, Allison (Kevin) Rousos of Chicago and Caitlin (Matthew) Bare of Evansville, IN; a sister, Noralyn (John) Canfield of Champaign and three brothers, Dominic (Sue) Raino of Dunkirk, MD, Jack (Kelley) Raino of Carbondale and Jerry (Mary) Raino of Plainfield; and beloved grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Carol Raino.
Bill received his undergraduate degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria. He served his residency in internal medicine at Southwestern Michigan Area Health Education Corporation in Kalamazoo, MI, followed by his neurology residency at Indiana University Hospitals in Indianapolis. Bill also taught at Western Michigan University’s School of Medicine.

Being a doctor was the greatest joy of Bill’s life, after his family. If you asked him, he would tell you he never worked a day in his life because of how much he enjoyed doing it day in and day out. He was a lover of history and music. He enjoyed fishing, attending sporting events, and traveling. Traveling was a love he developed early in life, as an exchange student in New Zealand and through trips to France and many other places. In his youth, he was also an avid runner, skier, and tennis player.

Despite his many accomplishments and hobbies, his biggest love was spending time with his family. His most used quote was “have I ever told you how much I like being with you?”
