Alton "A.D." McGuffin, 70, of Stanford, died at 7:30 pm, Monday, June 3, 2013 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington following a courageous battle with lung cancer.His memorial visitation wasfrom 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, Friday (6-7-13) at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. A private family servicefollowed, officiated by Rev. John McIntosh. A private family burial washeld in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Stanford.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center, Normal.A.D. was born on August 1, 1942 in Hardin County, Kentucky, the son of Harley S. and Virginia Pierce McGuffin. He married Ruscella J. Friday on December 26, 1961 in Salinas, Tennessee.She survives.He is also survived by one daughter, Susan (Michael) Kessler, Bloomington; two grandsons, Bradley and Greg Kessler, both of Bloomington; three brothers, Farrel (Virginia) McGuffin, Bruce (Tina) McGuffin and Rodney (Kay) McGuffin, all of Cecilia, KY; one sister, Joan (Kenny) Alvey,Elizabethtown, KY; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and a trusted friend and neighbor of over 40 years, Charles R. Clark, Stanford.He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Virgie Hawk; and an infant brother and an infant sister.A.D. was a member of Laborers Local #362, Bloomington and worked for C. Iber Sonsfor over twenty years. His dog Molly was very special to him and they are together now.A.D.s pride and joy was his two grandsons. He will be dearly missed by his family andfriends.
