Alex Dwayne Weatherspoon Obituary (1972 - 2018)

Alex Dwayne Weatherspoon, 45, of Bloomington, died at 1:12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria. His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Bloomington, immediately following services. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Surviving are his children, Joharri Weatherspoon of Elgin, Yisrealah Weatherspoon and Isaiah Hayes, both of Glen Ellyn; his mother, Rose Butler of Bloomington; his father, Willie (Thelma) Johnson of TX; and his fiance, LaToyia Godfrey of Bloomington and step-children, Jortay Phifer and Xe'Lena Phifer, both of Bloomington. Also surviving are his siblings, Antwon Weatherspoon and LaToya Johnson, both of Bloomington, Tashara Johnson and Alandria Johnson, both of TX. He was preceded in death by one brother, Willie Johnson Jr. Alex enjoyed his work at Luther Oaks in Bloomington since 2011, where he worked first in the kitchen and later in security. He loved to bake, but most of all, he loved to teach others and share his knowledge about our Creator and more. Alex will be lovingly remembered by his family and friends as always being a friend to anyone in need and always being there when someone needed to talk.
