Betty J. Lyle Obituary (1922 - 2017)

Betty J. Lyle, 94, of Bloomington, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, January 6, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation or to the American Heart Association. She was born September 8, 1922 in Bloomington, a daughter of Harley and Hannah Greene. She married Herlon Lyle on December 26, 1940 in St. Louis. Surviving are her husband, Herlon, of Bloomington; three daughters, Judy Lyle, Jean Lyle and Sue Rutledge, all of Bloomington; a son, Richard (Janet) Lyle of Brookfield, WI; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and one brother. A daughter, Cheryl Tucker, and a granddaughter, Julie McKee also preceded her in death. Betty had worked at Spiegel for several years and later ran a licensed day care center in her home for many years. She enjoyed bowling and had earned several trophies over the years. Betty loved her family and will be dearly missed by them.
