Betty L. Brent Obituary (1924 - 2015)

Betty L. Brent, 91, of Bloomington, died at 10:20 a.m. Friday, February 27, 2015 at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.Her funeral will be at 4:00 p.m. Monday, March 2, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Pastor Paul Stroup officiating. A private family entombment will be in the mausoleum of Park Hill Cemetery. Visitachelucrodtion will be from 2:00-3:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to : JDRF c/o Central Illinois, One N. LaSalle St., Suite 1200, Chicago, IL 60602.Betty was born February 4, 1924 in Covell, the daughter of Chester and Lucille Kreuger Melton. She married Lyle K. Brent on July 24, 1943 at Stanford and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2003.Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ellen (Michael) ORourke of Bloomington; a son, Rodney (Renate) Brent of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Greg (Patty) Gilmore, Jeff (Danielle) Gilmore, Don (Lori) Gilmore, Mark (Patti) Brent, Laura (Johnny) Wright and Elizabeth Brent; 4 step-grandchildren, Michael (Laura) ORourke, Beth (Dan Lindoerfer) ORourke, John ORourke and Lisa Howard; 15 great grandchildren, Jacob, Jack, Ella, Maddie and Mia Gilmore; Matthew and Lauren Gilmore, Parker and Harry Gilmore, Julia, Joanna, Faith and Elle Wright and Will and Robbie Brent; 2 step great grandchildren Collin and Connor ORourke; and a sister-in-law, Lila Butler of San Antonio, TX.She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Robert Melton.Betty graduated from Stanford High School and attended Brown Business College. She had a strong faith and was a member of Second Presbyterian Church in Bloomington. She was a lifetime member of the local chapter of PEO. Betty enjoyed golf and playing bridge with friends. She was known for her cooking, her baking and her wonderful smile. Bettys family was her life and she will be dearly missed.The family would like to thank all the staff at McLean County Nursing Home for their compassion and wonderful care of Betty during her time there.
