Burzilla I. Vaughan Obituary (1932 - 2019)

Burzilla I. Vaughan, 87 of Lexington, passed away peacefully at 4:20 a.m., Monday, September 23, 2019 at her home, surrounded by her family. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lexington, with Rev. Carl LoPresti officiating. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the Lutheran Church, Lexington and the burial will be private. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is assisting the family with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Lexington Peace Meal or to the Food Pantry of Lexington. Burzilla was born August 22, 1932 in Bloomington, the daughter of George A. and Cleda H. Cranfill Leuchtenberg. She married Thomas J. Vaughan on January 31, 1953 in Lexington. He died on July 31, 1999. Survivors include six children, Joan Phillips of Bloomington, Nick (Dina) Vaughan of Normal, Mary (Bill) Groce of Friendswood, TX, John Vaughan of Lexington, Patricia (Dale George) Vaughan of Lexington and Theresa (Randy) Reinhardt of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two sisters, Laverne (William) McWhorter and Helen (Joe) Corby, both of Salina, KS; and a brother, Joseph (Janice) Leuchtenberg of Towanda. She was preceded in death by two sons, Joseph and Stephen Vaughan; a son-in-law, Thomas Phillips and a sister, Elaine Leuchtenberg. Burzilla was a graduate of Lexington High School and a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Lexington. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and will be missed by all.
