Cecilia B. "Tillie" Hirsch Obituary (1925 - 2017)

Cecilia B. "Tillie" Hirsch, 92, of Normal, formerly of Bloomington, died at 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Heritage Health in Normal. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at St. Marys Catholic Church, 527 W. Jackson Street, Bloomington, with Rev. Joseph Baker officiating. Interment will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington immediately following services. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where the rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church or the American Hungarian Family Society, both in Bloomington. She was born January 14, 1925 in Bloomington, daughter of Joseph Frank and Anna Josephine Majer Hirsch. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Stephen, Joseph and John and three sisters, Margaret Berglund, Anna Hirsch and Magdalen Tynan and one niece, Midge Fisherkeller. Surviving are her nieces, Margie Goelzer Bane, Judy Danielson, Carolyn Hirsch, Sherilyn Thomas, Mary Kay Nicolai and Peggy McCubbins, whom cared for her; nephews, Kenneth Tynan, John Hirsch Jr, Michael Tynan, as well as numerous great-nieces and nephews. Tillie worked for State Farm Insurance Company for 43 years, retiring from the Illinois Regional Office in 1987. She was an avid golfer and bowler, and was inducted into the Bowling Hall of Fame. She was a member of the American Hungarian Family Society and a former member of Lakeside Country Club.
