Daisy M. Popejoy Obituary (1922 - 2017)

Daisy M. Popejoy, 95, of Bloomington, died on Friday, April 28, 2017 at her home. Her funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, where visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Entombment will immediately follow services at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, IL. In memory of her great-grandson, memorials may be made to the Tyler Johnson Wrestling Scholarship at Bloomington High School, c/o District 87. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com. She was born February 25, 1922 in Secor, daughter of Jesse and Nora Piper Poland. She married Bert E. Popejoy on July 8, 1940 in Kahokia, IA, he preceded her in death on April 12, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her great-grandson, Tyler Johnson; two brothers and four sisters. Surviving are one son, Bert Jr. (Cynthia) Popejoy of Ft. Collins, CO and one daughter, Elma Scott of Bloomington. Also surviving are eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren. Daisy enjoyed a long career working for General Electric in Bloomington. She later worked at the Piggly Wiggly and Unit 5 School District. She enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, painting ceramics and bowling.
