David Anthony Severino, 64, of Carlock, passed peacefully in his sleep at 11:28 a.m., Sunday, May 8, 2016 at his home.His funeral will be at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, May 12, 2016 at Historic St. Patricks Catholic Church, 1209 West Locust, Bloomington with Rev. Jeffery Windy officiating. Interment will be private. He married Mary Margaret "Maggie" Murphy on September 10, 1988 in Normal. She survives.He is also survived by his loving daughter, Kara (Jonathan) Caforio of Elmhurst; three doting grandchildren, Kate, Jillian and Calvin Caforio, all of Elmhurst; two treasured brothers, Daniel (Cheryl) Severino of Thornton, CO and Phillip (Judy) Severino of Oak Forest; one beloved sister, Diann (Al) Hawil of Alsip and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents and one dear sister, Donna J. Kolar of Alsip. Dave received his Bachelors and Masters Degree from Illinois State University, Normal.He taught Real Estate and Finance at Illinois State University, Normal and later at Illinois Central College, East Peoria.In the late 1980s, Dave started Severino Electric in Normal and in 1988 he began Severino Real Estate and Construction, until his retirement.David was past president of the Humane Society of Central Illinois and was a licensed State of Illinois investigator for animal cruelty and neglect.Dave was a tireless champion for the ones who had no voice and had an extremely kind and generous heart. He volunteered countless hours to help people and animals throughout his life. He was instrumental in having strict laws enacted that protected defenseless animals within the State of IL.David loved his family deeply and his greatest joy in his last years was spending time with his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren.
