David Claude Orr Obituary (1944 - 2014)

David Claude Orr, 70, of Normal, died Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Chicago. His visitation will be from 3 -7 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. His memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Bloomington, with Pastor Chad Lueck officiating. For those interested, Daves family will hold a celebration of life after the funeral early Wednesday afternoon with details to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donors choice. He was born May 28, 1944 in Macomb, the son of Paul Wilson and Marian Margaret Myers Orr. He married Marcia (Lockenvitz) Morley in 1980. He later married Patricia Wolf on August 11, 2012 and she survives in Normal. Also surviving are his children, Eric Orr and Lindsay Orr, both of Chicago, Trish (Mike) Dowd of Normal and Brett (Heather) Kearfott of Manteno; two grandchildren, Mason Dowd and Samantha Kearfott; a sister, Jane (Trevor) Toland of Macomb; and a brother, Brian (Ellen) Orr of Bradenton, FL.He was preceded in death by his parents.David earned his Masters degree in Biological Sciences from Eastern Illinois University where he played baseball. He retired from Country Financial. Prior to his time at Country Financial, he taught school for 35 years and spent the last twenty years of his teaching career at El Paso High School where he was also a beloved basketball coach. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a lifetime member of the National Education Association.He had a kind heart and a love for life that will be remembered by his family and all those whose lives he touched.
