David McClelland Welch Sr., 74, of Bloomington passed away on Wednesday (December 4, 2013) at RML Specialty Hospital in Hinsdale, IL.A memorial visitation will be heldfrom 4:00-6:00 pm, Tuesday, (December 10, 2013) at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may made to the charity of your choice.He was born on September 24, 1939 to the late H. Gerald and Louise McClelland Welch in Bloomington, IL. Dave graduated from Holy Trinity High School where he was an outstanding 4-sport athlete. Upon graduation in 1957, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He proudly served 2 years in the Army Tank Corp. in Germany.Dave married Kate Moore, (deceased), of Bloomington, in 1962. They hadthree children, Dave Jr. (Tracy) ofMackinaw, IL, Jennifer (Tom) Mangner ofDarien, IL, and Michael (Tina) ofWestmont, IL. He also leaves behind bytwo sisters, Penny (Ben) Hiltabrand of Carlock, IL and Jane (Michael) Meilahn of Pickett, Wisconsin;two brothers, Doug (Sharon) and John, both of Bloomington"Normal; andone cousin, Kathleen Kilmartin of Bloomington-Normal. He is also survived bysix grandchildren andthree great-grandchildren.Dave was a retired member of The Plumbers and Steamfitters Union Local 99 in Bloomington and worked as a pipefitter on many major construction projects around the state, including the ISU library, State Farm Corporate complexes, as well as, the Braidwood and Clinton Nuclear Power Stations. He was also a member of the Eagles Club in Bloomington.
