Dorothy Sybil MacDowell Obituary (1935 - 2013)

Dorothy Sybil MacDowell, 77, of Bloomington, died at 12:05 am, Thursday, August 15, 2013 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.Her funeral will be at 1:00 pm, Monday, August 19, 2013 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington with Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Interment will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois, 423 Kays Dr, Normal, IL 61761.Dorothy was born on December 1, 1935 in Shirley, the daughter of Franklin P. and Velma Young Lewis, Sr.She is survived by two daughters, Gwinn (Paul) Campbell and Stephenie (Brian) Auth, both of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Tera, Becca and Holly Auth and Zack Campbell; two great grandchildren, Serenity Auth and Tyler Baysinger. She is also survived by one brother, Franklin P. (Virginia) Lewis, Jr, Bloomington; three sisters, Marge (Raymond) Mishler, Fairbury, Eleanor Robertson, Salem, OR and Marilyn Patton, CA; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and her beloved cat, Leap.She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Allison.Dorothy was a 1953 graduate of Bloomington High School. She worked many years at Funk Seed Company and later for Country Companies, retiring in 2000. She was an avid reader and enjoyed baking cookies. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Dorothy was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
