Douglas L. Sheppelman Obituary (1955 - 2015)

Douglas L. Sheppelman, 59, of Downs, passed away at 3:36 a.m. Monday, October 05, 2015 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington, surrounded by his family. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2015 at St. Patrick Church of Merna with Monsignor Gregory Ketcham officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Merna. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Additional visitation will be for hour prior to services Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mid-Illinois Hematology and Oncology Associates, 407 E. Vernon Ave., Normal, IL 61761. He was born November 8, 1955 in Bloomington, the son of Marvin and Anna Mae Wunderlin Sheppelman. He married his high school sweetheart, Rebecca A. Zeitler on November 15, 1975 in Normal. They would have celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in just a few weeks. Surviving are his wife, Becky Sheppelman of Downs; three children, Kati (Ryan) Kleiboeker and Sarah (Mike) Brandt, both of Bloomington and Bryon (Courtney Snyder) Sheppelman of Downs; six grandchildren, Cruz, Phoenix, Hadley, Cannon, Haven and Jerzey; his parents, Marvin and Ann Sheppelman of Bloomington; and two brothers, Larry (Julie) Sheppelman of Bloomington and Rob (Dawn) Sheppelman of Normal. He was preceded in death by a brother, Rick Sheppelman. Doug was a member of the Carpenters Local for 42 years and retired from Bishop Brothers, Inc. in Peoria after 28 years. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. In the last two years, Doug found a new passionrunning 5K races. Doug had an unparalleled work ethic and found great satisfaction in a good construction project, but also enjoyed tropical destinations or hitting the slopes.
