Douglas R. Estes Obituary (1953 - 2018)

Douglas R. Estes, 64, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:02 a.m. Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home. His funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Estes family for his grandchildren's education fund. He was born August 12, 1953 in Urbana, a son of Harry C. "Bud" and Louise P. Martin Estes. Surviving are a daughter, Heather (Adam) Smith of Downs; three grandchildren, Cole, Ella and Ava; four brothers, Randy Estes of Locust Fork, AL, Jerry (Carol) Estes of Portland, TN, Pat (Stephanie) Estes of Downs and Pete (Patty) Estes of Sarasota, FL; his girlfriend, Kristi Covington of Bloomington; four nephews and three nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Harry Barnes. Doug was a 1971 graduate of Tri-Valley High School and spent his working years as a self-employed carpenter. He was an avid Cubs and Bears fan and enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson's. More than anything, Doug loved spending time with his grandchildren who were the sunshine of his life. His smile would light up a room and his friendship will be missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
