Edmund J. "Ed" Sweeney Obituary (1931 - 2014)

Edmund J. "Ed" Sweeney, 82, of Lexington, died at 6:20 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 at St. Marys Church, Lexington, with Rev. Carl LoPresti officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 3:30-7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, where the rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Additional visitation will be for " hour prior the service Wednesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Marys Church, Lexington for masses. He was born July 6, 1931 in Towanda, a son of William R. and Angela M. Killian Sweeney. Surviving are a sister, Isabelle A. Kerber of Normal; a brother, John D. Sweeney of Sherman; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary M. Sweeney; and two brothers, William P. Sweeney and Paul R. Sweeney. Ed graduated from Lexington High School and was a lifelong farmer in rural Lexington. He was a member of St. Marys Church, Lexington.
