Elizabeth Lea "Zibby" Zook Obituary (1960 - 2014)

Elizabeth Lea "Zibby" Zook, 53, of Normal, passed away at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, October 2, 2014 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Her funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 10, 2014 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, and at 11 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Homes of Hope, 401 N. She was born November 13, 1960 in Bloomington, the daughter of William L. and Mary Karen Mikel Zook Sr. Surviving are her mother, Mary (Charles) Armitage of Normal; her father, William L. Zook Sr. of Russell, IL; two brothers, William L. (Christen) Zook Jr. of Bloomington and Mikel A. (Michelle) Zook of Naperville; nieces and nephews, Travis, Camdyn, Kyler, Isabel and Grant Zook; an aunt, Sharon (Tom) Hayes of Bloomington; and an uncle, Robert (Pat) Mikel of Sacramento, CArnrnShe was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Warner Zook; her maternal grandparents, Travis and Mabel Mikel; and her paternal grandparents, Earl and Maxine Zook.Elizabeth graduated from Bloomington High School and worked at various places throughout the community, to include the Marc Center, Bundy Corporation, Flexitech and most recently at Avantis. She was involved in many different groups in the Bloomington-Normal community, including SPEC (Special People Encountering Christ), S.O.A.R., R.E.A.C.H., Wings and Prayers, the McLean County Home Extension Master Gardeners Program and the McLean County Womens Association.Her family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff and residents at Homes of Hope for the loving care and sense of belonging they provided for nearly twenty years.Zibby was always known to have a fun-loving spirit and would often break out in song and boy, could she dance!
