Ernest F. Finnigan Obituary (1958 - 2019)

Ernest F. "Ernie" Finnigan, 61, of Waynesville, passed away at 1:15 p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 in Waynesville. His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Wapella with Rev. Jeffrey Stirniman officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Waynesville. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 p.m., Monday, December 2 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington with a rosary service at 7:00p.m. Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church, Wapella or the Waynesville Fire Department. Ernie was born February 21, 1958 in Bloomington, the son of Loren F. and Thelma O. Strayer. He married Patricia J. "Patty" McGowan on April 10, 1990 in Clinton. She survives. Also surviving are their children, Kimberly (Ted) Hargis of Lexington, Keith Watts of Tallmadge, OH, Kelli (Bob) Switzer of McLean, Bethany (Trevor) Jackson of Normal and Katie (Dan) Lang of Bloomington; a granddaughter, Charlotte Switzer; four siblings, Bob (Cheryl) Finnigan of Lexington, Judy (Larry) Scovel of Bloomington, Sandra (Charlie) Franklin of LeRoy and Jim (Doris) Finnigan of Shirley; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Theresa Finnigan. Ernie was a lifelong farmer and enjoyed going to auctions and garage sales. He had a kind heart and was always there to help a friend. Ernie will be missed by his family and many friends.
