Ervin Goeppner Obituary (1928 - 2014)

Ervin Goeppner, 86, of Normal, died at 8:14 p.m. Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal. His memorial Mass will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (11-11-14) at Holy Trinity Church, Bloomington, with Monsignor Douglas Hennessy officiating. Interment will be at St. Marys Cemetery, Bloomington. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to the family. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com. He was born on March 17, 1928 in St. Louis, Missouri, the son of Martin and Katherine Mischler Goeppner. He married Patricia Ann Hagan on June 22, 1968 at Holy Trinity Church in Bloomington. She died on June 30, 2012. Survivors include two daughters, Annah Katherine (Long) Nguy of Bloomington and Rose Marie (Paul) Dunn of Davenport, Iowa; four grandchildren, Madeline and Ben Nguy and Charity and David Dunn; and a niece, Lisa Evans of Champaign. Ervin was a graphic artist, working for GROWMARK for 25 years and self employed for twenty years. Ervin enjoyed traveling with his wife, and especially loved their trips to the Holy Land, the White Mountains of Canada, the Rocky Mountains in Colorado and their Windjammer cruise off the coast of Maine. They also loved camping with their family at every opportunity.Ervin always enjoyed staying busy. Even recently at Evergreen Village, he could be found running errands for one of his small projects.
