Esther J. Prochaska Obituary (1921 - 2015)

Esther J Prochaska, 94, of Bloomington and formerly of Niles, IL finally rejoined the love of her life George on August 2, 2015 from her home surrounded lovingly by her nieces Joyce and Barb, and nephew Tom Pankonen.She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents, John and Anna Blaszak and sister, Mildred Blaszak. Other surviving nieces include Marlene Morlock, and Pam (Gary) Cremer of Michigan and their families.Her funeral mass will be held at 1 pm on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at St Patrick Church of Merna, with Rev John Steffen officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7pm on Monday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where the rosary will be recited at 7pm. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Ellwood, IL at a later date.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Esthers memory to the family for a memorial designation."Aunt Esther" as she was known to all, was born and raised in Chicago and was a 94 year devoted Chicago Cubs fan, which isnt easy in Central Illinois.She loved the open fields, blossoming trees, and flowers, especially lilies and sunflowers. Aunt Esther enjoyed spending time picnicking at Comlara Park watching the "dancing ladies" of Carlock in the distant sky, and sitting out by the pool of her apartment at Parmon House. She always marveled at how friendly everyone was to her, especially all of her friends at the apartment.She enjoyed taking golf cart rides at Dustys farm to see Toms girls in their hives. She was tickled to be the "Honey Pimps" Aunt. She also loved attending the McLean County Fair, being up close to all of the animals, especially the zebra and camel, viewing the 4H exhibits, and watching her first tractor pull.Aunt Esther packed a lot of memories into her last 4 years here in Bloomington, especially on her trips to visit family in Michigan and a very special trip to Washington DC two years ago. Her four-legged furry nieces and nephew also held a very special place in her heart. She loved spending time with Kara, Rags, Rudy, Birt the bird, and of course Norah, aka "Big Red".A favorite poem of hers was about sharing a hug with someone and her family hopes that everyone will please follow that sentiment and share as many hugs as possible every day.The family wishes to thank Advocate Hospice Caregivers Erica, Susan, Marilynn, and Ann for all their help and compassion in caring for Aunt Esther.
