Frances Ellen Brownfield Obituary (1919 - 2015)

Frances Ellen Brownfield, 96, of Normal, passed away at 8:13 a.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at her home. Her funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal, with Rev. Eric Powell officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Visitation will be from noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Epiphany Catholic Church or to the Community Cancer Center. She was born June 11, 1919 in Divernon, a daughter of Richard and Mary Virginia Shively Neeson. She married William W. Brownfield on March 22, 1947 in Mason City. He preceded her in death on June 3, 1999. Surviving are three children, Sharon (John) Reeve of Joplin, MO, Scott (Mary) Brownfield of Normal and John (Karen) Brownfield of Bloomington; and four grandchildren, Jason Reeve, Brenton (Maria) Brownfield, Hayley Brownfield and David McNeely. She was preceded in death by a brother, Richard and a sister, Mary Virginia. Frances was a graduate of Illinois State Normal University and retired as the office manager at Buckley Advertising in 1987 after twenty-five years of employment. She was a charter member of Epiphany Catholic Church, Normal. An avid student of current events, Frances had a profound interest in the lives of those around her and found great delight in the time she spent with her family and friends.
