Frank Scott Hursh Obituary (1949 - 2015)

Frank Scott Hursh , 65, of Bloomington died at 3:14 am on Thursday, July 30, 2015 at his home surrounded by his family.The family will honor Scott with a Celebration of Life Service to be held at 10:30 am, Monday, August 3rd at the Knights of Columbus Hall. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 pm, Sunday, August 2nd at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Frank Scott Hursh memorial fund, c/o Mid-Illini Credit Union, Bloomington. Funds will be used to support groups and charities that Scott believed in. rnrnHe was born November 10, 1949 in Bloomington, IL, son of Leonora Hursh and was raised by his maternal grandparents, Pearl and Hubert Walden. He married Mary Patti Schuerman on July 12, 1969.Surviving are his wife Patti, daughter, Catherine A. (Jay) Miller, son, Jeffrey Monk Hursh both of Bloomington and Jon Edwards, Normal whom he considered a second son. There are eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Also, surviving are two brothers, Robert Steven (Linda) Hursh of DeKalb and Patrick Rick (Judy) Wendell of Heyworth and one sister, Mary Sue Hagler of RI.He was preceded in death by his mother and his maternal grandparents and his father-in-law.Scott was a Teamster of Northern Illinois, Local #179 in West Chicago. He last worked as a distribution specialist for W.M. Putnam, Bloomington.He was a member of Fairlakes Golf Course and an accomplished musician having recorded and played with numerous bands. He enjoyed pool, cards, motorcycling and telling jokes. Scott was a loving family man and loyal friend who will be greatly missed.NOTE FROM PATTI: After this obituary had been written, I remembered the sealed letter Scott had written to me in November 2001 to be opened after his death. I wanted to share some of his words --rnrnIf pride were money, my children and grandchildren made me a rich man. I had many interests but being with ALL my family and in-laws brought me the most joy. I enjoyed being a son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and believed in trying to be a good person. The greatest thing in my life was my wife, Patti, who was my heart and soul and my best friend. I hope all my family and friends will miss me and I will be watching over you all until we are together again.
