Gary Daniel "Danny" Harness, Jr., 35, of LeRoy, died of influenza at 7:50 p.m. Thursday, January 16, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.His memorial service will be at 2 pm, Sunday, January 26, 2014 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Normal with Rev. Jeffrey Henricks officiating. He married Katie Wiley on May 2, 2009 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Normal. She survives.Also surviving are his mother, Brenda Harness, Downs; his sister, Toni (Rick) Milewski, Bloomington; paternal grandparents, Ken and Hazel Harness, Circleville, Ohio; one nephew and two nieces, Matthew, Molly and Marie Milewski; his parents-in-law, Victor and Ruth Wiley, Bloomington; a brother-in-law, Dan Wiley of S. Koreaand close family friends, Kevin and Rebecca Schaefer, owners of CTech in Bloomington.He was preceded in death by his father and maternal grandparents, Verlin and Mae Troyer.Danny was a 1996 graduate of BHS and volunteered at CTech while he was in high school. He received a degree from DeVry in Columbus, Ohio in 1999. After graduation, he went back to work at CTech and was currently employed there.Danny was a member at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Normal, where he met his wife, Katie. He loved to sing and was involved in his high school show choir, as well as the church choir and mens singing group.Danny always had a mind for how things worked, from cars to computers. He could fix or build just about anything and was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need. He enjoyed working with his hands and was well known for his intricate origami talent.Danny enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found flying his kites, grilling and smoking meat with his friend, Stephen or camping and hiking with his wife, Katie. He was a loving husband, son, and brother who will be remembered for his gentle nature, warm heart and friendly smile. Danny will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
