Gloria June McConnell Obituary (1926 - 2017)

Gloria June McConnell, 90, of Normal, passed away at 2:06 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2017 at the McLean County Nursing Home, Normal. A private family graveside service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. She was born May 30, 1926 in Bloomington, a daughter of George and Dorothy Holland Kleese. She married John R. McConnell on February 14, 1953 in Bloomington. He preceded her in death on March 14, 1978. Surviving are two daughters, Karen (Kenny) Wood and Kimberley (Jason) McHenry; two grandchildren, Janelle Graham and Jason Schultz; and two great-grandchildren, Abigail Graham and Madilyn Graham. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a grandson, Joshua Schultz. Gloria graduated from Bloomington High School and volunteered with the Womens Army Corps during WWII. She held positions with several area companies, including Model Paris Dry Cleaners, State Farm Insurance Companies and Kennys Delivery. Gloria was a member of St. Marys Church, Bloomington. She loved to read, shop, listen to country music, watch Dancing with the Stars, and dine at restaurants. Glorias favorite holiday was Christmas. She will be greatly missed and were sure she is dancing in Heaven.
