Helen J. Ryan, 85, of Normal, died at 5:27 p.m. on Sunday, December 15, 2013 at McLean County Nursing Home, Normal.A MemorialMass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. R. Anthony Lee officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with a prayer service at 5:45 p.m. Cremation rites have been accorded. Interment will be at St. Patrick Cemetery, Wapella, at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to OSF Saint Joseph Medical Center Foundation. She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and one sister.Surviving are one sister, Patricia I. Hansen of Columbus, NE and several nieces and nephews.Helen attended elementary school in Clinton and is a 1946 graduate of Clinton High School. She was a 1949 graduate of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing in Bloomington. She worked as a Registered Nurse for OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, retiring in 1990 after 40 years. She was also a member of OSF St. Joseph Auxiliary and of St. Joseph Hospital School of Nursing Alumnae Association.She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, where she was also a member of the Altar and Rosary Society. Helen was a long-time member of the Red Hat Society in Bloomington.
