James H. Walker Sr Obituary (1934 - 2017)

James H. Walker Sr, 83, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, August 5, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. His funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at St. Marys Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Gregory Nelson officiating. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bloomington immediately following services. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. He was born March 2, 1934 in Bloomington, son of William and Dorothy Wiggins Walker. He married Mary Helen Batty on June 26, 1954 in Bloomington. Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Bloomington; his son, James H. "Mugs" (Cindy) Walker Jr of Downs; his daughter, Debra Hinthorn of Bloomington and six grandchildren. Also surviving are 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters. James was a United States Army veteran, serving in Korea. He enjoyed a long career as part of Teamsters Local #26, where he worked as a truck driver for Builders Supply Company and McLean County Concrete, retiring in 1991. James passion was fishing and he also enjoyed hunting, boating and spending time playing cards with friends. He loved to play the harmonica and because of his talents, he was "inducted" by the ladies of the Red Hat Society as an honorary member.
