James L. "Jim" Alcorn Obituary (1947 - 2013)

James L. "Jim" Alcorn, 65, of Bloomington, died at 8:00 am, Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at his home.His funeral will be at 10:00 am, Friday at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington with Vernon L. Oakley officiating. Burial will be in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm, Thursday at the funeral home.Memorials may be made to the family.Jim was born on December 19, 1947 in Bloomington, the son of Albert D. and Pauline Moffitt Alcorn. He married Debbie Turner on October 30, 1966 in Bloomington.He is survived by a son, Lance (Stephanie) Alcorn and a daughter, Nicki (Patrick) Henson, both of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Cody Shelton, Chase and Cooper Alcorn and Logan and Mackenzie Henson; two brothers, David (Lizzie) Alcorn, Scottsdale, AZ and Larry Alcorn, Bloomington.He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Brian Alcorn.Jim attended Bloomington High School. He was drafted and served in the US Army, making Sergeant after only 18 months of service. He was a truck driver for MJE Construction for over thirty years. Jim enjoyed camping and was an avid race car fan including dirt track and NASCAR. He was always willing to lend a hand to others. Jim"s children and grandchildren were most dear to him. He will be missed by his family and many friends.
