Jeffrey R. Olsen Obituary (1956 - 2017)

Jeffrey R. Olsen, 60, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at his home after a brief battle with cancer. His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., following the services at the funeral home. Cremation rites have been accorded. He was born October 19, 1956 in Melrose Park, son of Robert E. and Lila A. Becker Olsen. He married Diane M. Reed on October 24, 1981 in Glendale Heights. Surviving are his loving wife, Diane, of Bloomington; two daughters, Jessica Olsen of Chenoa and Amanda (Joe) Wiegand of Lexington; two grandsons, Lucas Jonah Wiegand of Lexington; his parents, Robert and Lila Olsen of Bloomington; one brother, Gary (Jill) Olsen of Carol Stream and one sister, Linda (Kurt) Florian of Wheaton. Also surviving are his mother-in-law, Luella Reed of Glendale Heights; brother-in-law, Danny Reed of Naperville; sister-in-law, Patty (David) Roeske of Kendallville and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. For almost 40 years Jeff was "opening the doors for others" as he helped to grow a successful business with Tee Jay Central, where he considered his co-workers his extended family. Jeff loved his Harley and was a huge supporter of St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital. Anyone who knew Jeff, knew his greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his family, his "extended family" and especially his grandsons.
