Joe Kroll Obituary (1929 - 2018) - Bloomington, Illinois

Joe Kroll, 89, previously of Rochelle and Rockford IL, of Normal, passed away August 6, 2018 at his home. His funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018 at Epiphany Catholic Church, 1000 E. College Ave, Normal., with Monsignor Eric S. Powell officiating. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m. on Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, 1800 Eastland Dr, Bloomington. Interment will be at Hinthorn Cemetery, Hudson. He was born March 11, 1929 in Southern Illinois, the son of Bill and Mary J. Kuberski Kroll. Joe grew up at the Illinois Soldiers' and Sailors' Children's Home and graduated from U High in Normal. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. While in service, he married Patsy J. Anderson in Port Townsend, WA. After her death, he married Marlene Schultz who survives him. They celebrated 24 years of marriage in December. Joe retired after 40 years in the petroleum industry. He was a loyal member of the Shriners and Kiwanis organizations. In addition to being an avid fisherman, Joe enjoyed rooting for the St. Louis Cardinals and Green Bay Packers. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Patsy and son, Robert. Surviving, in addition to his wife Marlene, of Normal are his sons, William (Mary) Kroll of Marco Island, FL and David (Lisa) Kroll of Danville, IN; five step-sons, Steve (Marti) Schultz of Normal, Rick (Becky) Schultz of Forsyth, Mike (Cheryl) Schultz of Bloomington, Mark (Diane) Schultz of Carlock and Paul (Patty) Schultz of Pontiac. Also surviving are six grandchildren; eleven step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and 15 step great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
