John R. Durbin Obituary (1924 - 2013)

John "Jack" Durbin 89, of Bloomington, died at 1:50 PM on November 15, 2013 at Liberty Village of LeRoy.A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. He was the only child of John W Durbin and Lavina Eisenberg Durbin. Jack was raised by his grandparents as his own mother died from tuberculosis when he was 3. He married Mildred Beyer on May 25, 1947 in Bloomington.Surviving are his wife, Mildred at Liberty Village of LeRoy and his sons, John E (Chris Oyer, Decatur) Durbin and Doug (Deeya) Durbin, both of Bloomington.Jack worked first at Browns Home and Auto and then Thornton Motors as a parts manager from 1955 to 1984. He was a raving fan of the Illini, Cubs, and the Bears through-out the years. He loved to read and he regularly shared his opinion on current affairs.
