Johnny "Hal" Dean Obituary (1946 - 2020)

Johnny "Hal" Dean, 73, of Bloomington, passed away at 1:27 p.m. Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. A private family service will be held. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Community Cancer Center. He was born February 23, 1946 in Greeneville, TN, a son of John and Cleo Graham Dean. Surviving are his sons, John (Kimberly) Dean of Bloomington, Mark Dean of Streamwood and Jeremy (Missy) Dean of DeKalb; six grandchildren; a brother, Donald (Mabel) Dean of Greeneville, TN; and two sisters, Lena (Richard) Jones and Juanita Harrison, both of Greeneville, TN. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Kenneth, Rev. James, William and Roy Dean; and a sister, JoAnn Murdock. Johnny retired after a long career as a machinist at Driv-Lok. He was an avid Cubs fan and a talented musician who played with several bands over the years. More than anything, he loved his family and was especially proud to be a grandpa.
