Judith A. Vance Obituary (1938 - 2019)

Judith A. Vance, 80, of Towanda, passed away at 7:53 p.m. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded and there will be no service. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Leader Dogs for the Blind, Rochester, MN. She was born September 11, 1938 in Bloomington, a daughter of Elgin M. and Jessie M. Schindler Thornton. She married Delmar E. Vance on July 11, 1956. Surviving are four children, Susan Nafziger of Towanda, with whom she made her home, Rodney (Linda) Vance of Towanda, Debra (Randall) Fulkerson of East Peoria and Richard (Loretta) Vance of Normal; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Richard M. Thornton. Judith graduated from Bloomington High School in 1956 and retired from State Farm Insurance Companies in 1979.
