Kathryn A. Haas Obituary (1914 - 2014)

Kathryn A. Haas, 99, of rural LeRoy, passed away at 9:25 a.m. on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Heritage Health in Bloomington, Illinois.Her funeral will be at 11:00 am, Tuesday (1-21-14) at St. Patrick Church of Merna with Monsignor Gerald T. Ward officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-11:00 am, Tuesday at the church. Graveside service will be at 2:00 pm, Tuesday at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington is in charge of arrangements.Memorials may be made to St. Patrick Church of Merna, Bloomington or to the Shriners Childrens Hospital, 2211 N Oak Park Ave, Chicago, IL 60707.Kathryn was born on July 19, 1914 in Bloomington, the daughter of John and Anna Engerski Taylor. She married Duane J. Haas on June 1, 1935 at St. Marys Church, El Paso. He died on January 15, 1988.She is survived by three sons, Robert (Helen) Haas of Clinton, John (Fay) Haas of Bloomington and Richard (Sharon) Haas, LeRoy; 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.Kathryn was preceded in death by her daughter, Loretta Anne Thomas in 2003 and a grandson John Haas.Kathryn graduated from Gridley High School and Browns Business College. She was a volunteer Auxiliary member of St. Joseph Medical Center for many years. She was also a member of D.A.R.,the Young at Heart Club, Epiphany Church and was a 4-H Leader for many years.
