Kristine E. Wilkerson Obituary (1959 - 2022)

Kristine E. Wilkerson, 63, of Bloomington, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at her home surrounded by family after a long battle with cancer. She was born May 12, 1959 in Jacksonville, a daughter of Warren and Alicegene Surratt Lloyd. She married J.R. Wilkerson on August 21, 1982. Surviving are her husband, J.R.; a daughter, Kasie (Keith) Chenoweth; a son, Michael (Lindsey) Wilkerson; five grandchildren, Khloe and Kylie Chenoweth and Andrew, Carter, and Taylor Wilkerson; and a sister, Susan Merreighn, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Kris enjoyed a long career in the insurance industry as a learning and development analyst for Country, State Farm and Pekin Insurance. Kris was an avid nature lover who enjoyed photographing wildlife especially her hummingbirds and bluebirds. Her home was also a certified "Monarch Waystation" because she had planted and maintained significant necessities for Monarch butterflies as they migrate through North America. There was nothing that brought Kris more joy than her five grandchildren. Whether baking, doing arts and crafts or rides around her property on the gator, it was always an adventure with Grandma. Kris was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2022, at the Chapel in the Trees at Funks Grove Cemetery. Kris's wish was to have all her loved ones gather for a celebration of life. She wanted to be remembered in the happiest of ways. Please join the family in celebrating Kris's life later that day at Miller Park Pavilion from 5 - 7 p.m. at 1020 South Morris Ave, Bloomington, IL. Light refreshments will be provided. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Sugar Grove Nature Center and sent to The Sugar Grove Nature Center, 4532 N 725 East Rd, Mclean, IL 61754 in memory of Kris.
