L. Kathryn Blake Obituary (1929 - 2014)

Lois Kathryn Blake, 84, of Normal died on Friday, March 7, at Heritage Health, Bloomington.Kathryn was born August 29, 1929, in Danville to Ely Ross and Lola Mae Robison. On Dec. 3, 1949, she married Robert Junior Blake in Hudson. The couple enjoyed 45 years of marriage until Bob preceded her in death on May 29, 1994.Kathryn came to Bloomington-Normal to work at State Farm. Prior to retiring in 1993, she was employed as the office manager at the Bob Dennison Toyota and Ford Dealership for 32 years. For many years, Kathryn was a dedicated volunteer at BroMenn Hospice Services. She selflessly gave of her time to help others with the grieving process and to assist the hospice staff in the office. For her efforts, she earned a Volunteer of the Year award.Survivors include her son, Michael (Karen Stevenson) Blake of Normal, and her daughter, Kathy (Tom) Beal of Hudson, as well as sister Peggy Hutchison of Bloomington. Kathryn is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Lisa (J.R.) Buhs, Mount Pleasant, Wis.; Bob (Cindi) Beal, El Paso; Matthew Blake, Bloomington; and Brett Blake, Bloomington.Preceding Kathryn in death were her parents, sister Margaret Butler and brother Don Robison.Her service will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, with Pastor Jay N. Regennitter officiating. Interment at Park Hill Mausoleum will follow the service. Friends and family are welcome to call at Carmody-Flynn on Tuesday, March 11, from 4 to 7 p.m.Kathryn and her family wish memorials to be made to BroMenn Advocate Hospice Services or to Caring Voice Coalition, an educational and financial organization for patients who live with a life-threatening chronic disease.The family would like to thank Heritage Health employees for their care of Kathryn and their compassion for her family during her final days.
