Larry R. Allison Obituary (1946 - 2018)

Larry R. Allison, 72, of Normal, passed away at 7:57 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 12noon-8p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at their home, 500 E. Cypress Street, Normal, IL 61761.. Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington is handling cremation arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois, Normal. He was born April 29, 1946 in Bloomington, son of Richard Elwood and W. Jean Thompson Allison. He first married Margaret West. Later, he married Erma Stotler, she preceded him in death in September of 2005. He then married Cinthia A. Bair Kraft on March 3, 2006, she survives. Also surviving are his children, Amy (Mark) Melgosa and Mike (Kayla Dameron) Allison, both of Bloomington and Nikki (Nick) Dyas of Lakeland, FL; step-children, Mary (Chuck) Springob of Sycamore, Laura (Randy) Edwards of Hudson, Matt (Stacey) Stotler of Danvers, Ginger Stiles of Downs and Sheila Kraft of Pendleton, IN. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren; one great-grandson and his siblings, Connie (Dan) Hardesty and Cathy Allison-Zeine, both of Bloomington, Jerry (Diane Stonestreet) Allison of Chenoa, Tony (Julie) Allison of Lostant and Dawn Allison-McGrew of Eureka and many nieces and nephews. He was a United States Army Vietnam veteran. Larry was a member of Teamsters Local #26 of Bloomington for 32 years and worked as a truck driver for McLean County Asphalt in Bloomington. He enjoyed fishing, reading and tinkering with motors, cars and lawn mowers; he was a handyman. He also enjoyed NASCAR.
