Lorenzo D. Marshall Obituary (1954 - 2017)

Lorenzo D. Marshall, 62, of Bloomington, passed away at 9:40 a.m. Sunday, August 27, 2017 at his home. His memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 2, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Saturday. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. He was born December 21, 1954 in Chicago, a son of Earnest and Geraldine Nutall Marshall. He married Elaine Reed on March 31, 1978 in Decatur. She survives in Bloomington. Also surviving are two daughters, Brianne Marshall (Marcus) Scott and Stephanie Marshall (Kelton) Scott, both of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Kamden, Braxton and Kadynn Scott; a sister, Shirley Marshall Smith of Chicago; and two brothers, Fitzgerald Timothy Tim Marshall of Kenosha, WI and Glenn Marshall of Chicago. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Crystal D. Marshall; his parents; and one sister, Camilla D. Marshall. Lorenzo was a graduate of Illinois State University and retired from State Farm Insurance Companies on April 1, 2017 after forty years of employment. He was an active member of numerous professional organizations, both inside and outside of State Farm. Lorenzo enjoyed boating, fishing, travel and jazz music. He was incredibly skilled at helping others find their true potential and was deeply spiritual. The consummate family man, Lorenzo cherished spending time with his loved ones and especially enjoyed being a grandfather.
