Lucas A. Schmitt Obituary (1993 - 2018)

Lucas A. Schmitt, 24, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:42 a.m. Monday, January 1, 2018 at his home. A celebration of his life will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, January 6, 2018 at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. He was born April 8, 1993 in Rockford, a son of Joseph S. and Erin K. McDonough Schmitt.Surviving are his parents, Joe and Erin of Normal; a sister, Lauren J. Schmitt of Normal; a brother, Alec J. Schmitt of Normal; his maternal grandmother, Sandra McDonough of Normal; his paternal grandparents, Joyce Schmitt of El Paso and Dean E. Schmitt of Oglesby; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dogs, Gryffin and Leo. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Colin J. McDonough. Lucas was a graduate of Normal Community High School. His love for dogs was unparalleled and evident to everyone who came in contact with him. Lucas was an outdoor enthusiast who enjoyed camping and hiking. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his friends to which he was extremely loyal. He loved to laugh and loved to make other people laugh. Lucas had a kind heart, a gentle soul and a fun loving spirit. His laugh was infectious and he will be missed by friends and family alike.
