Lyn Gale Ash Obituary (1946 - 2014) - Bloomington, Illinois

Lyn Gale Ash, 68, of Bloomington, died at 3:55 a.m. on Saturday, (October 18, 2014) at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington.Born on June 4, 1946 to Lon and Clara Ash in Fairbury, IL., he was the youngest of seven children. He married Kitty Frank on October 17, 1996 at Funks Grove.He is survived by his wife, Kitty, of Bloomington; two daughters, Nancy (Albert), Hann of Boston, MA. and Cyndy Ash of Clinton, IL; his son, Ryan (Melissa) Ash of Normal, IL.; and grandchildren Tyler, Clara, Keaton, Eliot, Mackenzie and Bryson. Also surviving are one brother, Leon (Judy) Ash of Mansfield and one sister, Barbara Dougan of Portland, OR.He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Chan, Gordon, Dean and Larry Ash.Lyn earned a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Illinois in 1968 and a Master of Science from the University of Illinois in 1970. Lyn served in the Illinois National Guard. He worked for the Farm Service and Church Dwight. Most recently he worked at Baurer Gudeman in Bloomington.Lyn had many hobbies and traveled the world extensively. He was passionate about gardening, a certified arborist, and a very active Master Gardener. Lyn was awarded a Sustained Excellence Award in 2009, Master Gardener of the Year in 2010 and co-hosted a radio show on WJBC.Above all, his sense of humor was ever present. His family will miss his planned appearance as Eddie from Christmas Vacation this holiday season. We will keep the leg lamp burning for you, Dad.Lyn was a generous giver of multiple charities. In memory of him, contributions may be sent to your favorite charity.A memorial service for Lyn will be held at 1:00 p.m. this Thursday, October 23, at the Funks Grove Chapel of the Trees.
