Margaret M. "Margie" Gilmore Obituary (1920 - 2014)

Margaret M. "Margie" Gilmore, 93, of Normal, entered heavens gates on Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at her home. Her funeral will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, (10-25-14) at St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington with Rev. Ric Schneider officiating. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal. The family will greet family and friends from 4:00-6:00 p.m., Friday (10-24-14) at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home in Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Marys Catholic Church or the Special Olympics. Margie was born on November 17, 1920 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Nicholas and Frances Campana Caleo. After attending Marycrest College, Margie worked as a secretary at the Rock Island Arsenal where she met the love of her life and future husband, Harold T. Gilmore. They were happily married for 36 years until Harolds death on July 9, 1982. She was a working mom who raised six children. Margie is survived by her sons Thomas E. (Patsy), Bellingham, WA, Michael J. (Carol) Gilmore, Bloomington, Larry J. Gilmore, Austell, GA; her daughters Patricia A. (Andrew) Wilson, Hiram, GA, and Lorraine M. (Thomas) Miller, El Paso; her grandchildren, Bradley T. (Melissa) Gilmore, Washington DC, Derek Gilmore, Milwaukee, WI, Crista Gilmore, Minneapolis, MN, Sean P. Wilson, Arlington VA, Erin J. Kinney and Lauren R. Kinney, N. Yarmouth ME, Regina (Sean) OBrien, Normal, and Matthew Miller, El Paso; her great-grandchildren Emma, Liam, and Caitlin OBrien, Normal; her sister, Anne K. Gilmore, Shoreview, MN and her brother, John A. (Sally) Caleo, East Moline. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Marie Dunfee, her brother, Francis J. Caleo, and beloved daughter, Ellen M. Kinney. Margie enjoyed music, dancing, travel, and cooking. She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church in Bloomington.
