Mary I. English Obituary (1927 - 2017)

Mary I. English, 90, of Bloomington, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at her home.Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Holy Trinity Church, with her brother, Rev. Walter Miller officiating and Rev. Jeffrey Windy concelebrating. Interment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Normal, immediately following services. Her visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, where the rosary will be recited at 3:30 p.m.She was born Jan. 24, 1927 in Earlville, daughter of Royal and Isabelle Thompson Miller. She married Lawrence E. English on May 3, 1952 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death on Dec 5, 1996. She was also preceded in death by one son, Ronald English; nine brothers and one sister.Surviving are five daughters, Rita (John) DuFrenne of Bloomington, Theresa (Bob) Feller of White Heath, Jean (David) Deal of Danvers, Julia (David) Kennedy of Minnetrista, Minn., and Colleen (Michael) Jefferson of Bloomington; three sons, Marty (Kim) English of Menominee, Mich., Larry P. (Becky) English of Bloomington and Terry (Tamayra) English of Plainfield. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren, Katie, Ryan (Mary), Dawson, McKahl, Madeline and Alyse English, Andrew (Lupita) and Martine DuFrenne, Lucas (Barbara) and Gregory (Ashley) Deal, Kelli Kennedy, Noel, Jared (Rachael) and Preston Jefferson and Colton Anderson; 10 great-grandchildren and a brother, Father Walter Miller of Techny.Mary was a homemaker and enjoyed her time raising her children, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending their extracurricular activities. She loved to host her entire family for holiday meals.She enjoyed painting landscapes and birdhouses and liked gardening and nature with the changing of the seasons. Mary was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and was thrilled to see them finally win the World Series.Mary will be remembered by her family for being loving and generous and for being a devout Catholic.The family will like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Emma Asetre and Maria Thomas for their care and companionship over the past few years.Mary has requested no flowers, but rather to have memorials made to Father Walter Miller, 1901 Waukegan Rd, PO Box 6000, Techny, IL 60082-6000 or to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Bloomington.
