Michael E. Sigler Obituary (1952 - 2017)

Michael E. Sigler, 64, of Bloomington, passed away at 4:53 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at OSF HealthCare St. Joseph Medical Center, Bloomington. His funeral will be at noon Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Historic St. Patrick Catholic Church, Bloomington, with Rev. Geoff Horton officiating. Burial will be in East Lawn Memorial Gardens, Bloomington. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington, with a prayer service at 3:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association. He was born December 2, 1952 in Bloomington, the son of Ernest Eugene and Marilyn Morger Sigler Sr. Surviving are six children, Christina Wisely of Indiana, Patti Schrock of Bloomington, Jeff (Dianna) Schrock of Normal, Ernest (Brittany) Sigler II of Indiana, Jarrett Sigler of Bloomington and Nathan (Janelle Williams) Sigler of Bloomington; seven grandchildren; two sisters, Carol Jo Sigler of Bloomington and Sue (Mark) Andrews of Downs; and a brother, Randy (Linda) Sigler of El Paso. Michael earned a M.S. degree from Illinois State University and went on to be a successful businessman, owning and operating the Jewelry Service Center and Open Forge Gallery. He was an active member of the Illinois Valley Blacksmith Association and was a talented jeweler and blacksmith. Michael enjoyed motorcycle racing. He was a devout Catholic who cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and was an especially loving grandpa.
