Michael J. Rave Obituary (1968 - 2020)

Michael John Rave, 51, of Bloomington, passed away at 11:45 a.m., Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at his home. His visitation will be from 2:00-6:00 p.m., Friday, February 21 at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. All other services will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Special Olympics Illinois. Mike was born April 30, 1968 in Bloomington, the son of Ronald L. and Jane Sanderson Rave. He is survived by his three children, Sarah Rave of Chicago, Matthew (Nichole) Rave of Birmingham, AL and John Rave of Bloomington; his parents, Ron and Jane Rave of Bloomington; paternal grandmother Helen Rave of Earlville, maternal grandmother, Joan "Gigi" Hampton of Bloomington and a step-grandmother, Mary Sanderson of Luck, WI; a brother, Robert (David Forrest) Rave of Hollywood, CA; a sister, Julie (Jeff Klabunde) Rave of Canton, MI; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Rave and maternal grandfather, Hank Sanderson. Mike was a 1986 graduate of Central Catholic High School and a 1990 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University. He worked his entire career with State Farm Insurance Co's, serving his internship at State Farm Corporate and working his way up through the company to eventually owning his own agency. Mike enjoyed hunting, his black lab Gracie and spending time with family and friends at his hunting cabin. He also enjoyed music and sports including the Cubs and Vikings.
