Owen M. Boyle Obituary (1941 - 2019)

Owen M. Boyle, 78, of Bloomington, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 17, 2019 at Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington. A visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois. To express condolences online, please visit www.carmodyflynn.com. He was born February 22, 1941 in Brooklyn, New York, son of Owen and Anne Brennan Boyle. He married Karla J. Anderson on September 29, 1979. Surviving are his wife, Karla of Bloomington and two cousins, Bea Sculley of NJ and Patrick Boyle of Ireland. Owen graduated with an associate's degree from New York City College in 1960, which is when he began working for IBM in Brooklyn. While working at IBM, Owen served in the United States Army from 1963-1965. He remained with IBM for 33 years before retiring in 1993. After his retirement, he and his wife moved to Illinois to be closer to her family, of which he cherished being a part of. While here, Owen enjoyed his part-time position with the IRS, where he worked for several years. He also enjoyed volunteering at the BCPA for 10 years as an usher, he was a member of the American Legion Louis E. Davis Post #56 and the Elks Lodge, all of Bloomington.
