Patricia A. Vandergrift Obituary (1945 - 2017)

Patricia A. Vandergrift, 71, of Bloomington, formerly of Armington, left this earth Wednesday morning (Jan. 25, 2017) from Heritage Health in Bloomington.She is survived by her husband of 24 years, Robert Vandergrift; her daughter, Becky Buchenic, along with her sons, Tyler, Jack and Max, of Hubbard Ohio; and daughter, Chrys Beebe, her husband, Mark, and daughters, Kennedy and Lyla, of Columbus, Ohio.Born in Hermitage, Pa., Patricia was a graduate of Edinboro College in Erie, Pa., with a bachelors degree in art. During her multi-faceted career, she taught school, owned and ran her own advertising agency, and was a certified radio marketing consultant for several radio and television stations in Youngstown and Dayton, Ohio, and in Bloomington. She was a proud Rotarian.She and her husband arrived in Central Illinois in the summer of 2005 to help create radio stations BOB-FM and Magic 100.7 for the new Connoisseur (now Nuehoff) Media, with the company eventually growing from those two to nearly 40 stations.Her quick wit, good humor and generosity earned her friends around the country. Even as a chemo patient in the last five years of her life, she brightened the days of the nurses, doctors and patients at the Cancer Center with a joke, a hug or a thoughtful gift.There will be a short memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Armington Christian Church. Memorial contributions in her name may be made to the Armington Christian Church or the charity of your choice.Her family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of the Community Cancer Center of Normal, all her many family members and friends, and the women and men of the Armington Christian Church.
