Patti F. Brush Obituary (1958 - 2014)

Patti F. Brush, 56, of Hudson, died at 7:23 p.m. Sunday, September 7, 2014 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis. Her funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 at Carmody-Flynn Williamsburg Funeral Home, Bloomington, with Rev. Vaughn Hoffman officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, September 11, 2014 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Central Illinois or to the American Lung Association. She was born March 5, 1958 in Peoria, the daughter of Bernard F. and Frances M. Burnham Shrier. She married Charles "Kim" Brush on July 17, 1990 and he survives in Hudson. Also surviving are two children, Paul J. (Gwen) Brush of Normal and Kimberly Brush of Peoria; two grandchildren, Isabella (4) and Jaxson (2) Brush, both of Normal; her parents, Bernard and Frances Shrier of Tremont; two brothers, Michael B. (Dianne) Shrier of Carlock and Thomas A. Shrier of East Peoria; four nieces and two nephews; and a very dear friend, Rachel Shipley. She was preceded in death by a brother, Daniel P. Shrier. Patti graduated from Illinois State University in 1980 and retired from State Farm Insurance Companies in 2014 after twenty-five years of employment. She was known as the original bunco queen, having started a bunco group among her fellow State Farm colleagues. Patti was passionate about her dogs and supporting the humane society. She especially treasured any time she could spend with her grandchildren, nieces and nephews, all of whom she was so proud of. Patti was known for her fiery spirit and her sense of humor. Her family extends their heartfelt appreciation to "Pattis Posse" for the care they showed throughout the past year.
