San Kim, 40, of Bloomington, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at his home.There will be no services. He is survived by his mother, Young Sook Kim, Bloomington; his sister, Narry Kim, Bloomington; and his brother, Adam Kim, Baltimore, MD. He graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1991 and from Illinois State University in 1996, earning a Bachelor of Science in environmental health.San was an enthusiastic fan of science fiction, especially Star Trek, Lost and Back to the Future, and maintained a lifelong interest in the environment. In Korean, the name San means "mountain." Living up to his name, he truly served as a rock for his family. He was kind, considerate and generous.Throughout his life, he would do anything for his family, whether it was helping his brother Adam with his homework while he was growing up; recording his sister Narry"s favorite TV shows while she was at work; or helping his mother with directions. He was truly loved and will be greatly missed by his family. His sense of humor, hopeful nature and gentle presence will never be forgotten.
