Shirley J. Vogel Obituary (1941 - 2015)

Shirley J. Vogel, 74, of Minier, passed away at 5:35 p.m., Saturday, September 26, 2015 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria after a long battle with cancer.A private family entombment will take place at the Park Hill Mausoleum in Bloomington with Rev. Ken Martin officiating. There will be no visitation.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Komen For The Cure or the Humane Society of Central Illinois.Shirley was born May 9, 1941 in Bloomington, the daughter of Carl and Grace Virginia Thompson Beck. She married Dennis L. Vogel on October 22, 1994 in Las Vegas, Nevada. He survives.She is also survived by a daughter, Kimberly K. Gwaltney of Carson City, NV; 2 step-sons, three grandsons, 2 granddaughters and 1 great granddaughter; her best friend and loving sis Carol Kinsell of Minier and a very dear friend, Jo Kruse of Mackinaw.Shirley was an avid race car fan and her favorite driver was Tony Stewart. She enjoyed fishing, traveling and her Dachshund, Precious. Shirley will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
