Sue R. Weller Obituary (1937 - 2017)

Sue R. Weller, 79, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Meadows Mennonite Retirement Community in Chenoa. Her memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, June 30, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Bloomington. Cremation rites have been accorded. Entombment will be at St. Johns Lutheran Church columbarium. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Carmody-Flynn Funeral Home, Bloomington. She was born August 26, 1937 in Mendota, daughter of Adolph and Elizabeth Sauer Rave. She married Roger B. Weller on December 27, 1958 in Mendota. Surviving are her husband of Bloomington; her children, Lori (Shawn) McDonald of Gurnee, Debra (Darric) Brambora of Glen Ellyn and Jeffrey (Natalie) Weller of Geneseo and seven grandchildren, Kim Sara McDonald, Dylan Jenna Brambora, Elli, Maggi Adam Weller. Also surviving are one sister, Elizabeth Rave of Denver, CO and one brother, James (Carol) Rave of Ormond Beach, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother. Sue was a 1959 graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University, where she received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. She taught music for a short time after her schooling, then stayed home to raise her children. She was an avid and accomplished bowler and enjoyed golfing. She loved to spend time with her family fishing at their cabin in Minnesota, and faithfully attended her grandchildrens activities. Sue also liked to play cards, especially bridge, and she surrounded herself with many treasured friends. Her family has many fond memories of Sue and cherish her stories, such as, Sue being the 1954 Sweet Corn Pageant Queen in Mendota and her latest adventure of skydiving with her son and granddaughter for her 75th birthday. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
